Long ago, in the shadowed wilderness of Drek’vhar, the warthdogs—a unique breed of lycanthropic beasts—were born. These cursed beings embody both the feral nature of wild boars and the cunning malevolence of demons. Through dark rituals, they’ve developed unique abilities, each with its own brutal style of combat. Their hierarchy and roles within the tribe are strictly defined, and they worship a powerful entity known as Dra’leor, a lion-dragon hybrid god that grants them strength and protection.
The lore of the warthdogs is tied to their individual roles in battle. They are known for their fearlessness and unwavering loyalty to Dra’leor, and each warthdog’s unique abilities and weapons reflect the savage society they inhabit. Below are the names and descriptions of these creatures:
The most common of the warthdogs, Gnarl Warthdogs are smaller, unarmed, and relatively inoffensive in appearance. However, this is a ruse; their lack of weapons conceals their razor-sharp tusks and deceptive agility. They are often used as scouts or to overwhelm intruders in large numbers. The Gnarl Warthdogs have a primal ferocity and rely on their pack to strike fear into enemies.
These creatures roam the forests and valleys of Drek’vhar, protecting their lands with a fierce loyalty. Together, they form an unbreakable clan, and each warthdog’s unique role and weaponry are symbolic of their path in service to Dra’leor.
A powerful entity worshipped by the warthdogs, Dra’leor is a colossal creature with the body of a lion and the wings and scales of a dragon. This mighty creature was said to be summoned by the ancient Warthog chieftains as a guardian spirit, a symbol of strength and ferocity that embodies the very spirit of the Warthog tribe.
